Using Pulse AI

Ask questions about your Pulse coverage in plain language and get answers grounded in the companies, mining assets, drill results, and documents available on the platform.

Why use Pulse AI

Building a filtered search is useful when you know exactly what you want to track. Pulse AI is designed for the moments when you want to explore a question more conversationally, without leaving the chat to build a search first.

You might ask:
  • How does Barrick’s production compare with Newmont’s?
  • What’s new in lithium this week?
  • Which silver juniors are active in Mexico?
  • Which drill results reported more than 5 g/t gold in the past 30 days?

Ask in your own words and refine the question as the conversation develops.

Where to find Pulse AI

There are two ways to open Pulse AI:

  1. The side tab. Every page has a Pulse AI tab on the right-hand side that sticks out from the edge of the window. Click it to open the chat.
  2. The Pulse AI sparkle. This appears on company cards, mining asset cards, tables, and similar elements throughout the platform. Click it to start a chat scoped to that specific company or asset. In tables, you can select the rows you want first, then click the sparkle; the chat will open with those selected rows as its source.

Starting a chat

  1. Click Pulse AI under Tools in the sidebar.
  2. Click New chat.
  3. Type your question into the chat box, or choose one of the suggested prompts.
  4. Send your message.

Pulse AI is currently marked as Beta, so the feature and its available controls may continue to develop.

What you can ask

The suggested prompts on the opening screen show some of the ways you can use Pulse AI:

  • “Compare Barrick vs Newmont production” - compare named companies or assets.
  • “Silver juniors in Mexico” - explore a theme, commodity, or location.
  • “What’s new in lithium this week?” - look for recent developments.
  • “Drill results above 5 g/t Au, last 30 days” - screen for specific thresholds and time periods.

You can also ask follow-up questions within the same chat to narrow, expand, or clarify the answer.

Using the chat controls

From the chat bar, you can:

  • Attach a file.
  • Use the microphone to speak your question.
  • Access the available audio control.
  • Choose between the available models, including Haiku 4.5 and Sonnet 4.6. Sonnet is currently selected by default in the interface shown.
  • Start a separate conversation using New chat.
  • Search your previous conversations using Search chats.

As Pulse AI is still in Beta, some controls may continue to change or improve.

Finding an earlier chat

Your previous conversations appear in the Pulse AI panel.

Use Search chats to find an earlier conversation rather than starting again. You can then continue working within the existing chat and keep the earlier context together.

Teaching Pulse AI new skills

A skill is a reusable set of instructions that Pulse AI can apply when a chat calls for it, or when you invoke it on demand using / in the chat input.

Skills are useful when you want Pulse AI to follow the same process, structure, or style more than once.

For example, a skill could tell Pulse AI:
  • How to format a particular type of analysis.
  • Which information to include when answering a recurring question.
  • When to apply a specific research or comparison process.
  • What the finished output should look like.

Creating a skill

Open the Skill Creator card above the chat box and select New skill.

You can create a skill in two ways:

Write skill instructions:

Select Write skill instructions to complete the skill form yourself.

  1. Enter a Name.
  2. Add a short Description explaining when Pulse AI should use the skill.
  3. Write the full Instructions in markdown.
  4. Use the Preview tab to review the instructions.
  5. Click Create skill.

Pulse AI uses the description to decide when the skill should apply.

Create with AI:

Select Create with AI to build the skill conversationally with Skill Creator.

Skill Creator begins by asking three questions:

  1. What should the skill make the chat do?
  2. When should the skill be triggered?
  3. What should the output look like?

Give it as much detail as you can, including a rough example of the output where helpful. Skill Creator then turns your answers into a reusable skill draft for you to review, edit, and save.

Managing your skills

Click Manage skills from the Skill Creator card to open the AI Skills page.

Skills are organised across three tabs:

  • My skills - skills you create for your own use.
  • Organisation - shared skills available through your organisation.
  • Platform - skills provided by the Pulse team.

At present, the screenshots show no additional skills under My skills or Organisation. The Platform area currently includes Skill Creator.

Edits to a skill take effect from your next message.

Actions you can take

  • Ask questions about companies, mining assets, drill results, news, and documents in your Pulse coverage.
  • Compare named companies or assets.
  • Explore a commodity, theme, geography, or time period.
  • Refine an answer through follow-up questions.
  • Attach supporting files to a chat.
  • Search and continue an earlier conversation.
  • Create reusable skills manually or with Skill Creator.
  • Browse and manage skills from the AI Skills page.

Also worth knowing

Pulse AI works from the information available within your Pulse coverage. As with any AI tool, review important answers before relying on them, particularly where the underlying data or interpretation is commercially significant.

Pulse AI is not currently gated by plan or seat, although access arrangements may change as the feature develops.
